Men's Indian Wells Final Prediction

John Isner after his huge win over Djokovic in the Indian Wells semifinals
Federer beats Nadal on an outdoor hardcourt for the first time since 2005!?!
I'm pretty excited for today's final between Federer and Isner. I want Roger to win because I always want Roger to win. But I'll also be very happy for John if he wins because he seems like a nice guy and he's also never won a Masters 1000 title before.

Winning this final will mean a lot to Federer because a) he sort of needs a big win right now, b) it will mean he has 19 Masters titles which will tie him for the most ever with Nadal, c) it's embarrassing to lose to Isner twice in a short period of time so it's a must-win situation, and d) Gavin Rossdale and Anna Wintour will be seriously depressed if he can't pull this win off.

As for Isner, winning will mean a lot to him because a) he's never won a Masters title before, b) it will move him up to 8th in the ATP rankings, and c) he can brag to his friends that he beat the greatest player of all time AND the number one player in the world in the same tournament. Oh and d) maybe Caroline Wozniacki will finally agree to go out with him (remember those amazingly flirty twitter conversations those two used to have? Isner and Wozniacki's Twitter Flirtation).

I'm going to go with Federer winning in three sets. I think Isner will win one set in a tiebreak (possibly the first set), but that he'll be nervous about winning his first big title and won't be able to take two sets off Fed. But who knows, I clearly did not think Isner could take out Djokovic, so anything is possible. Looking forward to an exciting match!

Rafa Nadal: US Open Champion!

Congrats Rafa! You've had an amazing year and now you've won the US Open. I think you're pretty awesome, so I want to apologize for cheering for Novak and for my angry comments on twitter after Brad Gilbert claimed that you are now the GOAT. You're totally not — you still have quite a few grand slams to go before we can call you that — but you are certainly one of the best ever, and maybe one day you actually will be the greatest of all time. Anyway, the important thing is that you won three slams this year and now have the career slam as well. Doing that by the age of 24 is amazing, so props for that. Oh, and most importantly, you looked really hot in your black Nike "night" outfit. Success!

Stop Making Dinara Feel Bad

Dear Dinara Safina,

I'm sorry that you no longer want to update your Twitter account because people are jerks and made you feel bad. But trust me, you had a lot of fans and we're sad that you're leaving. Come back soon.

Sincerely,
Normal people who don't feel the need to make people they don't know feel bad online

Baghdatis, Tipsarevic, Murray and More!

Nice work by Marcos Baghdatis to beat American Ryan Sweeting 36 62 63 at the Farmers Classic in Los Angeles. Okay, so maybe Baghdatis should have won in straight sets since this Sweeting character is only ranked 118th in the world, but this is the first tournament back for Baggy since Wimbledon so let's just be happy for him, okay?

Congrats also to Janko Tipsarevic (who is quickly becoming my favourite player on tour because he is the best tennis tweeter ever!) who defeated Somdev Devvarman from India 76(9) 62. At least this was a straight sets win. Goooo Tipsy!

Baghdatis and Tipsarevic will face each other in the next round, and my money is on Tipsarevic to win the match. I think I'm choosing Tipsarevic solely on the fact that he seems to be on a roll with his twitter account, and therefore I assume he'll be on a roll on the court. And yes, I'm aware that my thought process in this instance is idiotic.

On to Andy Murray! Very, very excited that he'll be playing tomorrow. My Murray love seems to be growing everyday and I have no idea why. He should win his match fairly easily since I've never even heard of his American opponent, Tim Smyczek (just looked him up and he's ranked 192 in the world, so yeah, Murray might want to beat him).

Other matches tomorrow include Feliciano Lopez vs. Dudi Sela (worth watching just because Feli Lopez is perhaps the most attractive athlete on the ATP tour), Alejandro Falla vs. Ernests Gulbis (remember how Falla almost beat Federer at Wimbledon?) and James Blake vs Benjamin Becker (not so interesting).

Is it bad that I just want all of these smaller tournaments to be over so that the Rogers Cup can start and I can see Federer and Nadal again?

And the Hardcourt Confidential winner is...

Me! It's true, I'm tight with Patrick McEnroe. Okay so that's not true, not even a little bit, but I did win a copy of his book "Hardcourt Confidential" today, and that made me happy. I've actually already read it and liked it a lot so it will be great to have my own signed copy.

Thanks PMac!
